Draak (Sea Dragon) is a 46 foot (14 m), Luxemotor Dutch Barge, built in 1928. Having started life as an inland bunker fuel barge in the Netherlands, and converted into a river cruiser, but retaining much of the functionality and period patina, as would be expected of such a vessel of specific interest. Now used as a comfortable live aboard under licence off the jetty at Ferry Quay, which has to be one of the best mooring locations in Suffolk today. Draak's current mooring offers open and unspoilt views over the River Deben. Having been very well cared for, a recent out of water survey was carried out in 2022, when new anodes were installed and the hull blasted, repainted with 2 pack Jotun paint and anti-fouled. There is a covered rear seating area, big enough for alfresco dining, the fully fitted wheelhouse is light and spacious, with polished wood floors and a seating area. The saloon has a wealth of polished wood, to include floor, ceiling and fitted storage units, as well as a fitted multi-fuel stove. The functional and practical galley is open plan. There is a master cabin and enclosed cassette wc, with potential to incorporate a shower facility. There is a further cabin/workshop to the bow of the vessel, accessed through a separate entrance. This is a barge fitted with a 88 HP diesel Mitsubishi engine with a twin disc technodrive hydraulic gear box, so is capable of more river cruising. There is also a Kabula central heating system by radiator fitted on board. Draak has Bilge keels, is fitted with solar panels, supplemented by a mains connection to the Quay, has a lowering mast, traditional period anchor and working winch. In lovely condition, both internally and externally. The barge is being offered fully furnished and fitted, for immediate use. A fabulous opportunity to adopt a comfortable live aboard lifestyle, or a rather special weekend retreat, in a location that is hard to beat.
Positioned on a prime mooring under licence, in a highly desirable location, this has to be the answer quality living on the river. Due to her location, she is close to many shops, restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, pubs and cinema. The railway station is a few paces away, with connections to London Liverpool Street and Norwich, via Ipswich. Woodbridge is a fine riverside town with Marina, Tide Mill and boasts a fine range of services and facilities, as well as excellent riverside walks, sailing and rowing clubs, several golf courses nearby and access to the Heritage Coastline. The main arterial routes of the A12 and A14 are also accessible. (EER=exempt)
